Session Outline

More and more Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are investing in learning analytics services, with an increasing expectation on personal tutors to utilise these services to inform and prioritise their tutorials. In addition to academic advising, Personal tutors play an important role in supporting students’ wellbeing and sense of belonging at their HEIs. However, where learning analytics policies align with student support policies this is predominantly in relation to the students’ academic performance. At present there is little consideration in these policies for the role learning analytics could play in supporting students wellbeing and mental health. If we could construct such policies, what would they look like and who would be the key stakeholders? How could such policies support a compassionate campus? In this workshop we will work collaboratively to develop key objectives and obstacles for developing such policies.
