Session Outline

Fika is an EdTech company on a mission to mainstream mental fitness. Fika draws from sport psychology, positive psychology and solution-focused approaches to deliver a proactive mental fitness solution to the sector. A solution that enables students and staff to be the best version of themselves despite the stresses and strains that they may be facing. A solution that brings a prevention of mental health decline.

Over the past two years Fika has worked closely with FE and HE institutions across the country to develop a mental fitness curriculum, along with accompanying technology, that supports students and staff to develop the 7 skills of mental fitness (positivity, stress management, confidence, focus, motivation, meaning and connection). Fika focuses its curriculum closely on these skills as they have consistently been identified as key predictors of wellbeing, retention, attainment and employability. And in view of the current climate the development of these skills has never been more important.

This September Fika is launching it's remote plug-in mental fitness curriculum with partner universities. In this session Dr Fran Longstaff, Head of Psychology, will provide an overview of the mental fitness curriculum along with an explanation of the psychological, educational and technological principles supporting it.
