Session Outline

Jamie is a typical student studying a 3 year degree programme in Economics. Like most students, Jamie's journey through higher education consists of both highs and lows, challenges and successes.

In this session, delivered in conjunction with some of our sponsors, we follow Jamie in his journey through higher education by looking at the interactions he has with his personal tutor during the course of his studies and the way in which his tutor supports Jamie's personal development and success. We consider a variety of student-tutor interactions and provide live demonstrations of how commonly used educational technologies available within your institution can be combined to enhance student development, improve student outcomes, and make the personal tutoring/academic advising process more efficient, effective and engaging for both student and tutor. The technology-based approaches we demonstrate are relevant to all, but are particularly relevant to those who will be tutoring/advising their students remotely at a distance.
