About This Webinar

In this webinar, the speakers will discuss the importance of supporting international students through personal tutoring and give an insight into the types of support commonly sought by international student cohorts. They will also provide some case studies and examples of how personal tutoring can be tailored to support students from a wide range of backgrounds.

About the Presenters

Louisa Hill, Leeds University Business School. Louisa is an Associate Professor at Leeds University Business School, specialising in teaching and learning, and specifically internationalisation in the classroom. She has many years experience of tutoring students from a wide range of cultural and academic backgrounds.
Nicola Smith, Leeds University Business School. Nicola is a Senior Teaching Fellow and programme director for a masters programme with a large international cohort. She is an experienced personal tutor.

Who Should Attend

We will be discussing the different strategies employed to ensure that international students are able to make the most of the 1-1 personal tutoring system that is common in UK HE; 1-1 tutoring is something that many have not experienced previously. We hope that webinar attendees find the information provided useful and they are able to employ some of the strategies discussed. This webinar is suitable for any member of HE staff involved in the tutoring and/or support of international students. This could include academic staff, student support staff and personal tutors.
